William Grenville "Bill" Davis was born July 30th, 1929 and served as the 18th Premier of Ontario from 1971 until his resignation in 1985. Born in Toronto, Davis was very active in political circles and helped to campaign for Peel Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Thomas Laird Kennedy. He was later elected as MPP for Peel in the 1959 provincial government. He served as Minister of Education from 1962 until 1971 helping to increase education funding to school boards and establishment of many public schools. He also served as Minister of University Affairs from 1964 until 1971. 'Brampton Billy' Davis passed away at the age of 92 on August 8th, 2021. |
