| Bio | Margaret Marland (b. 1934) is a former City of Mississauga and Region of Peel councillor.  A Lorne Park resident, she was first elected as trustee for the Peel Board of Education in 1974, representing ward 2 until 1978.  She ran for city council and became councillor for Ward 2, serving for two terms. Marland was a member of Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and served as MPP for Mississauga South for 18 years (1985-2003). A long-time community volunteer, Margaret dedicated time for various causes including the Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital, Sheridan College and the Task Force on Vandalism in Mississauga. Marland was the first ever MPP from Mississauga and its first female Cabinet minister. The Margaret Marland Room, at the Clarkson Community Centre is named in her honour.
