History |
Peppermint oil has been used for decades to help relieve various ailments and medical disorders including those affecting the digestive system and relieving symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Oil can also be applied topically to relieve tension headaches as well as in enemas. According to a 1942 Toronto Daily Star article, the Canadian government requested for Canadian farmers to revise their production of peppermint to make up for shortages caused by the war. Essex and Kent counties were targeted for the production of peppermint oil.
