Description |
A silver hair brush with yellowish bristles. The initials "NMH" are on the back of the brush with fluted designs, curls and flowers. Manufactures mark for Gorham (includes an anchor and initial G) can be found on the underside of the handle along with the following "Sterling 1202". |

History |
Hair brush belonged to Naomi Maude Harris and would have been part of a larger dressing set. The manufacturer, Gorham, was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1831 by Jabez Gorham and his partner Henry L. Webster. The company's main product was silver spoons but they were also know to make thimbles, combs, and jewellery. The company was taken over by Jazeb's son John and became very influential between the years of 1850 and 1940.
