History |
One of two sculptures presented to the City of Mississauga in honour of the 10th anniversary of the twinning of Kariya and Mississauga. Given to Mississauga from Kariya City in 1991. The crane is an auspicious bird in Japanese culture and is often presented at happy occasions such as marriages, births and anniversaries. The 'minogame' turtle is a symbol of longevity and felicity. The turtle is so old it has a train of seaweed flowing from its back. This sculpture was made by Takehiko, a silversmith. |
