History |
According to the donor, Barbara Larson, there were originally two tazzas. One was given to her and the other to her sister Dora by their grandmother, Mary Harris. The term, "tazza" is the Italian word for "cup". This shallow basin rests atop a stem with a thick base and has primarily been used for drinking red wine. However, as this item moved throughout Europe and America, its usage focused mainly on the serving of tea-based items and sweets. Ref: http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O501/tazza-unknown/ |
