History |
This figure depicts Mayor McCallion participating in one of her favourite pastimes. McCallion learned to play hockey from one of her brothers who gifted her a pair of ice skates when she was a little girl. She played in her hometown of Port Daniel, Quebec and played for a professional women's team while attending school in Montreal. McCallion has been a huge supporter of women's hockey in Ontario and was instrumental in getting women's hockey introduced into the Olympics. Various bobblehead dolls of Mayor McCallion have been created throughout the years. They were made specifically and given out during the annual Mayor's Gala that was hosted to help raise funds for arts and culture organizations in Mississauga. |
