Description |
A glass community service award given to Hazel McCallion on behalf of the Ontario Khalsa Darbar on July 1st, 2013. The glass award is shaped like a maple leaf that is attached to a rectangular base. The Khanda, a Sikh symbol, is etched on the top front. Below the following text is inscribed: Community Service Award presented to Her Worship Mayor Hazel McCallion in grateful appreciation for your outstanding dedicated service to the citizens of Mississauga and members of Ontario Khalsa Darbar July 1st, 2013. |

History |
Award was given to Hazel McCallion from the members of the Ontario Khalsa Darbar in appreciation for her longstanding community service to Mississauga. The Ontario Khalsa Darbar is a Sikh Gurudwara located in the Malton area of Mississauga. It was founded in the mid-1970s and is the largest in North America.
