Description |
A child's cream coloured curly lambs wool stole. The neckline curves to fit close around the neck. It has a clasp at the front made out of a chain that measures 15 cm long with 3 evenly spaced rings. The rings allow the stole to be closed close to the neck or at two other points where it would be more open. The rings connect to a hook for closing. There are two braided rosettes, one on each side of the stole where it closes. The rosettes are cream colour, 4 cm in diameter. There are two lambs wool 'ball' tassels on the ends of the stole. |

History |
Stole belonged to Dora Sayers who is pictured wearing it in 1917 at Benares. The stole was used as a clothing accessory to be placed around the shoulders of a woman most often over a formal outfit. Many stoles are made out of expensive fabric used for formal occasions. This one shown here is made out of a wool and is used by a child as opposed to the larger fur stoles that are decorated with animal heads. |
