History |
Sugar cutters or sugar nippers are used to break off chunks of sugar from sugar cones. They were first used in the 17th Century at a time when sugar came in hard, compact form. Sugar was expensive and rare in many households. Displaying sugar cones in ones home shows that the family had wealth. |
