History |
This cape was worn by Mary Horatia Magrath when she married Arthur Harris at St. Peters Anglican Church in Erindale on September 29th, 1881. It was worn over a wool gown. Capes were popular during the Victorian period and were both practical and decorative. When preparing their trousseau (clothing and personal items to be taken to their new home) ladies were advised to include two or three evening capes. |
