History |
This coverlet is most likely Ontario-made and was purchased by the Toronto Township Historical Foundation in 1968 at Hugh Manning's antique shop in Streetsville. The coverlet is an example of bedding found in early Ontario settler homes. The star and diamond pattern comes from the motifs that form the pattern; an eight-pointed star of varying complexity and a lozenge motif that often occurs at the corners of a square lattice in which the stars are set.'
