History |
This teacup and saucer set was made by Jackson & Gosling Limited which operated under the trademark of 'Grosvenor China' of Grosvenor Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Established in 1866, in Fenton, it was until 1909 that the Jackson & Gosling partnership moved to the Grosvenor Works, Gregory Street, Longton. The company was later acquired by Mr. A.E. Hewitt and Mr. Harold J. Plant, during the early 1920s. This partnership was short-lived, however, because in 1931 the business was forced to merge with W. T. Copeland & Sons Ltd. In 1950, Jackson & Gosling Ltd was once again sold, this time to a man named, Mr. Donald Poole, who at the time was a production manager for the pottery of Thomas Poole & Gladstone China Ltd.
