History |
Made by artist Franco Cagayat who is a member of the Cagayat family, known for their world-class wooden carvings. His father, Justino 'Paloy' A. Cagayat Jr. is a third-generation woodcarver from Paete, Laguna and taught Franco how to work with wood when he was 8 years old. The town of Paete, located in the Philippine province of Laguna, is known as the wood carving capital of the country. Its inhabitants, known as Paeteños or Paetenians, continue with this century-old tradition of carving and painting. References: 21-year-old Filipino carves amazing wooden car sculptures.
