History |
This game was used by the Sayers children: Dora, Barbara and Geoffrey. They lived in a log bungalow on part of the original Benares property in Clarkson, Ontario. In 1968 they inherited Benares House from their aunt, Naomi Harris. They donated it to the Ontario Heritage Trust and it was later transferred to the City of Mississauga which operates it as a museum. This game was published by Lubbers and Bell Manufacturing Company, Clinton, Iowa. The company was active until 1942 as they renewed the trademark for their solitaire game, "Puzzle-Peg" on October 17, 1942, having originally trade-marked it on October 17, 1922. According to BoardGameGeek, the company was founded in 1912 by John Albert Lubbers and Charles Leonard Bell. This second edition features a booklet of extra puzzles made using this board and pieces. Between 1922-29 it had 6 editions. The game originally sold for 50 cents, and 10 cents for just the booklet if purchased separately. |
