Description |
A floor-length white, lightweight cotton nightgown with short sleeves. Lace is found trimmed around the neck and arm openings. Lace inserts are found in front. A peach-coloured ribbon is found on the front. Inside the front, there is a band with a name tag that reads: Mabel. The centre back is blue and affixed with a white cotton tag with words and letters: Plume Brand No 3423, Size 16. |

History |
Nightgown belonged to Mabel Graydon of Streetsville (1971-1964). M. Martin & Company of New York was the manufacturer of the 'Plume Brand' of muslin underwear. Originally founded in 1878 under the name of Danhouser and Monsheimer, the company was known as a pioneer in the manufacturing of muslin underwear. M. Martin & Co. assumed the name after 1906.
