History |
The Home Comfort Bread and Cake Cabinet was made by The Comfort Company of St. Paul, Minnesota. The cabinets, made for storing bread and cake, were sold through catalogues and in hardware and department stores across North America. The cabinet advertised for housewives to help save money by preventing food spoiling and waste. It was made in seven different sizes and made for household kitchens as well as for hotels and hospitals. It could be easily taken apart and cleaned and resembled for convenience. The same cabinet is seen in a photo from the Eatons Spring & Summer Catalogue of 1927 and sold for $3.00. Cabinet was donated by Jack Thorne who may have found it on his property in Lorne Park when he was remodelling during the 1970s. References: Advertisement. The Tea & Coffee trade Journal.
