History |
According to the donor this quilt was made by her grandmother, Elizabeth Rose Underwood, who came to Canada at the age of six in 1836. She and her parents settled in what was known as Queen's Bush, near Crosshill. Mrs. Underwood made the quilt for grandson Abraham Hacoke and was given to him as a wedding gift. Elizabeth died at the age of 86 years in 1916. The quilt was eventually passed down to the donor, a resident of the Lorne Park area of Mississauga. |
