Description |
A framed document or declaration for the "Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal". The document has a dark blue background and features a sketch of the transit terminal in different shades of blue and orange. Text is printed in white and reads: 'Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal, 200 Rathburn Road West, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Transporting Mississauga Into The Next Century. Official Opening Thursday, November 6, 1997. Ceremony at 11 am. Tour and Refreshments 10:30 am-12:30 pm'. A small brass label attached to the bottom reads: 'Presented to Mayor Hazel McCallion in Recognition of Your Contribution'. The frame is 1.5cm x 1cm and is made of a light tan wood frame. Matting surrounding the poster/declaration is 4cm and is a medium blue and light tan. It is covered in glass. There is a wire for hanging attached to the back. |

History |
Poster or declaration was created to commemorate the official opening of the City Centre Transit terminal located at 200 Rathburn Road West. It opened on Thursday, November 6th, 1997 and is located in the north parking lot of Square One Shopping Centre. Mississauga Transit, now known as MiWay, has been using the Square One Shopping Centre as a transit terminal for a number of years. The original terminal for buses was located at the parking area on the southside of the mall, next to City Centre Drive. The centre serves as a transit hub and bus station for MiWay. This framed item was given to Mayor Hazel McCallion commemorating the event and for her support of Mississauga Transit.
