History |
Haroon Khan was awarded a Civic Award of Recognition by the City of Mississauga in 1996 for his 25 years of volunteer service in the community. In particular, Mr. Khan has previously worked with helping organize Canada Day festivities for the local South East Asian community. He also volunteered for the Peel Multicultural Council, United Way and the Mississauga Hospital. Civic Awards of recognition began in 1992 and were established to "give residents an opportunity to honour the accomplishments and dedicated efforts of their neighbours". Individuals or groups are honoured who have made an impact at the local, regional, or provincial level through volunteering, exemplary actions, achievements and victories.
