Description |
A black and white framed photograph of Dora Sayers. Dora is seen wearing a bridesmaid dress with puffy shoulders and tight sleeves; she holds a large hat in her hands. Frame is painted silver and grey while the photograph has a beige mat. Back of the photograph is covered with brown paper. Metal eye-hooks and wire are also found on the back. Handwritten note reads: Babs dear, in remembrance of the happy day of June 23rd, 1939, very best love, Dora, Canada. Also marked in the back is the following text: Glassey - Toronto. W. Haines. Dora was the maid of honour for her sister Barbara Sayers when she married Melville Gooderham on June 23rd, 1939 at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Erindale, Mississauga. Dora's dress was light blue. At the time of her sister's wedding, Dora had just finished a 6-month run of the production of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's 'The American Way' at Centre Theatre in New York. |
