History |
Portrait photograph was taken by local photographer Bert Hoferichter (1939-2020). Although Ron Searle has decades of experience in municipal politics he has only served as Mayor for the City of Mississauga for one term. During this time he worked with the council to approve an official plan to create a downtown core for Mississauga and make it separate from Toronto. Council was also looking into reports on how much money it would save if the City quit itself from Peel Region. They also initiated a plan to create more affordable housing. He also saw the need to push for more commercial development and guided Council to approve the construction of the Burnhamthorpe Bridge at the Credit River.
