History |
Photograph believed to have been taken by Bert Hoferichter who took images of the members of council during its inaugural on December 6th 1982. This is the third time that McCallion was elected Mayor of Mississauga which saw the city grow in development and population. Hazel McCallion served as Mayor of Mississauga from 1978 until 2014. Nicknamed 'Hurricane Hazel' by her supporters as well as the media at large for her vibrant outspoken style of no-nonsense politics. She was Canada's best-known and longest-serving mayor and oversaw the growth of Mississauga from a small collection of towns and villages to one of Canada's largest cities. |
