Photograph taken during the unveiling of the Mississauga's Strategic Plan which occurred on May 21, 2009, at the Living Arts Centre. David Suzuki was asked to attend to deliver the keynote address. David Takayoshi Suzuki (b. 1936) is a well-known environmental activist, broadcaster and academic. Suzuki has starred in and hosted a variety of documentaries, and television and radio shows on subjects of nature and the environment since the 1970s. He has hosted and narrated the CBC television show, The Nature of Things for over 40 years. In 1990 he co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation which seeks to "empowers people to take action in their communities on the environmental challenges we collectively face".
