History |
This magazine belonged to Geoffrey Sayers (1907-1997). Arthur Mee (1875–1943) was an English editor, journalist and educator best known for his children's books and magazines including The Children's Encyclopaedia, My Magazine and The Children's Newspaper. My Magazine developed out of The Children's Magazine. In 1914, My Magazine included a newspaper supplement called the Little Paper. In 1919 it became the Children's Newspaper which was published weekly until 1946. The "Children's Newspaper" (and "My Magazine") provided information for children on many subjects, historical, geographical, practical and information on what was happening in the world week by week in an effort to keep children up to date with the latest in world news and science. The newspaper was deliberately designed to look like an adult newspaper. It sold 500,000 copies weekly.
