A booklet entitled 'Mississauga Transit: 25 Years with you on board'. The book has 24 pages and printed on glossy paper. Front cardboard cover is mainly black with pictures of many employees of the transit company. Orange round logo at the bottom center of cover reads: "Mississauga Transit 25. Celebrating 25 Years With You on Board_. Back cover is mostly blue. Inside are messages from Mayor Hazel McCallion and Bill Cunningham, Director of Mississauga Transit. The booklet contains photographs and historical information on the Transit System from 1974 to 1999. Photos are mostly of buses and stations. Includes statistics on ridership and fleet and a 'Look at the Future'. Some advertising on the last two pages. |

Public transit began in the Town of Mississauga back in 1969 and was first operated by Charterways Bus Company Ltd and Georgetown Transportation Company; it started as a six-month trial to gauge interest from residents and transit users. The Town of Mississauga was growing and so was the need for an updated transit system, with support from the Province of Ontario and members of council, the Town of Mississauga's new municipal transit system was introduced on November 1st, 1973. A couple of months later, the new City of Mississauga was incorporated in January of 1974. In 1975 it was reported that the City of Mississauga had the highest growth rates of all transit systems in Canada. In 1973 2.4 million passengers used Mississauga Transit which had a fleet of 32 buses and 90 employees. In 1975 transit carried over seven million passengers.
