A printed newsletter published by Ashley and Crippen, Fall Edition, 1957. Made up of a single sheet of paper folded in half to create four pages. Printed in black text. Printed on the cover, on the top left corner are the words: Ashley and Crippen Newsletter. Beside this is a logo featuring an illustration of a house with the caption: Home of Fine Photography. The photograph on the cover is of Joel Aldred, the narrator of the film, the Cinderella Township, and Dan Gibson, its director. Below the picture, the headline reads: New A & C Films Sell Real Estate and Wines. Inside two middle pages features information and images of six different portrait photographs. Also includes some information on new appointments to Ashley and Crippen. Back page features an image and text on the 'Story of Wine in Canada. |
History |
The film "The Cinderella Township" (1957) was produced by Ashley & Crippen Studio of Toronto as "a continuing campaign to attract new industry within" the township's borders. It was directed by Dan Gibson, scripted by Ken Armstrong, a resident of the Township for many years, and Joel Aldred, a well-known commentator, did the narration. Ashley & Crippen Ltd was founded in 1915 by Charles G. Ashley and James B. Crippen. The firm was hired by Toronto Township to produce the film, The Cinderella Township. They also photographed many portrait photographs of Toronto Township councillors and officials.
