History |
The late 1950s and early 1960s were a period of growth for the Township of Toronto. There was a huge boom in residential development post World War II. This meant money had to be set aside to properly service infrastructure of new roads, water and electricity in various areas. To relieve residential citizens of the burden of heavy taxes, the Township of Toronto's approach to balance was through the introduction of industrial businesses. Utilizing its surrounding resources, the Township of Toronto branded itself as a unique industrial town that is great to be part of, whether it's for work or living there. Over 11,200 acres of industrial land were made available for businesses. The Township marketed itself close to resources such as servicing roads, rail, water, sewerage, gas, electricity and markets.
