History |
Holiday card believed to have been sent to employees and residents of Toronto Township from Toronto Township Council for Christmas 1967. The Centennial Flame is noticed in the front of the card which was a project undertaken by the Centennial Committee of Council. The flame was originally lit on New Year's Eve 1966 by Reeve Robert Speck to commence the Centennial year. The Township of Toronto's municipal buildings was located at 100 Dundas Street West (Confederation Square) which was the site of municipal offices for the Township of Toronto from 1873 until 1972. Municipal offices later were moved to the City Centre area of Mississauga. This building was used by several tenants including Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board and Sheridan College. The building was demolished sometime after 2008. Reference: 'Historic municipal building faces demolition' John Stewart. Mississauga News. Thursday, January 31, 2008 |
