An invitation for the official opening of the Mississauga Civic Centre. Invitation is printed in landscape style on linen paper. The front and back are grey. Front features an embossed metallic drawing of the exterior of the Civic Centre inside a thin border. Below printed in black or navy blue text are the words: Mississauga Civic Centre Official Opening. July 18, 1987. Inside the bottom half is printed with details of the event in blue ink. Handwritten in the middle, in black calligraphy print are the names: Her Worship Major Hazel McCallion & Mr. Sam McCallion. |

An official invitation was sent to attendees invited to the official opening of the Civic Centre by the City of Mississauga. The Official Opening of the Mississauga Civic Centre held in July 1987 was attended by Andrew and Sarah, the Duke and Duchess of York. Highlights included Mayor McCallion singing with The Nylons, a peace walk and performances by New Wave band, Images in Vogue. A Citizens Advisory Committee for the Civic Centre Opening, headed by community leader and developer, Harold Shipp, was responsible for planning and organizing activities for the opening weekend.
