History |
Invitation was set out to businesses on behalf of Friends of Heritage Mississauga inviting them to the Anchorage Restoration Corporate Donor Reception. This reception was held at the Mississauga Board of Trade Business Club in the City Centre area of Mississauga. Heritage Mississauga was seeking donations to help restore the Anchorage building on the Bradley Museum property. Donations thru corporate donors were recognized with a tile on the donor wall inside the Anchorage. There was also the opportunity to have tiles created depicting heritage scenes of early Mississauga life and others that include corporate names and logos. The Anchorage was moved to the Bradley Museum property in 1978 however it took several years for funds to be raised for the restoration of the building. At the time the ground floor of the Bradley House was furnished and the second storey was used for static displays, conservation facilities, artifact storage and office space. The plan for the Anchorage was to have gallery space for displays and exhibits as well providing space to serve tea and hold meetings. It was also decided to have a textile and conservation room and workroom for curatorial staff on the upper level with a conservation laboratory and artifact storage facility in the basement. Bradley House and Anchorage were governed by the Heritage Mississauga (formerly known as the Toronto Township Historical Foundation). Ownership was later transferred to the City of Mississauga in 1994. |
