A rectangular black and white postcard of the Streetsville Public Library. The building is a white clapboard structure with three upper windows and two larger windows on each side of the front door. The United Church is just visible to the right. A black car is parked in front of the library. On the bottom right corner is a white label that reads "Streetsville, Ont.". The reverse of the postcard has an area designated for the postal stamp. In the centre reads, "POST CARD; CORRESPONDENCE; ADDRESS". |
History |
Streetsville Library is the oldest library in the Mississauga Library System. It was formed in 1854. The image shows the third library location on the southwest corner of Queen and Barry Streets. It was relocated there in 1902 and was in use until 1967. The current library was a Centennial project and is located at 112 Queen Street South. Ref: Conserving Heritage Landscapes.
