A newspaper copy of The Streetsville Review, dated November 11 1898, vol XXXI, No 1630. A small orange label on front reads: Mrs. Dr. Dixie, 1 Jan 99. The Streetsville paper encompassed Peel County. Articles include 'Toronto Township Minutes'', The Doctor who Cures, Village and Vicinity and 'Markets of the World', as well as many advertisements. |
History |
The Streetsville Review was started in 1846 by brothers John and Solomon Barnhart. It was edited by Reverend MacGeorge. The paper was bought and edited by many people including Mr. Church who was the editor for 35 years starting in 1899. The last printing of the Streetsville Review was in 1984. The Streetsville Historical Society has copies from 1894 to 1942 in their collection. Dr. Dixie was a local doctor whom Dixie Road in Mississauga is named after. |
