History |
The Pavillion of Friendship Chinese Garden is found at the Mississauga Chinese Centre, located at 888 Dundas Street East. The structure was a gift from the Jiangsu Provincial Government to the Ontario Government as a sign of friendship and is part of the Soo Chow Gardens. The Mississauga Chinese Centre sits on a 10-acre site and officially opened in 1987. A group of investors from Hong Kong saw the opportunity to build a Chinese mall in the growing city of Mississauga. The centre has several unique features including a large timber gate, stone sculptures, a replica Nine-Dragon Wall, a Soo Chow Garden, a Pagoda, a pond and a facsimile of the Great Wall. The Jianda Construction Company of Jiangsu Province of China designed and constructed the building. The timber gate, located at the entrance to the centre was featured in Canada's Post Gateways of Chinatown back in 2013.
